An old bottling from one of Speyside's most popular distilleries. This old 1940 vintage Glenlivet was bottled sometime in the 1980s, meaning it's at least 40 years old.
Nose: fully ripe fruits, grapes, plums, raspberries, pickled in alcohol. Subtle sweetness of glucose, followed by a hint of oak.
Taste: despite 40% at the time of bottling a quite alcoholic onset. As soon as the palate gets used to the alcohol, you will discover notes of wood and forest honey. Subtle in the background is tobacco.
Finish: an amazingly short finish. Pretty dry, quite woody.
