A welcome return to the list of Annual Diageo releases in 2016 after 8 years away and the oldest official Linkwood released to date.
Distilled in 1978 and aged in refill European oak butts and refill American Hogsheads with only 6114 bottles available.
Nose: Fruit salad (rhubarb & custard) waxy citrus, apricot, some floral, herbal notes, marzipan, pears in stock syrup, vanillin oak.
Palate: Sweet and syrupy, pears in vanilla stock syrup, ginger, ripe melon, baked apples, rich honey, spiced oak and tangerine.
Finish: Waxy and herbal, ripe melon, ginger, orange jelly, some peppery vanillin oak, honey and drying into crisp apple.
