Kilkerran 16 Y.O. 2022 is the longest-aging Single Malt Scotch Whiskey ever carried out at the Glengyle distillery: produced from all the malts distilled since the reopening of the distillery in 2004, it has therefore aged 16 years, all spent in ex-Bourbon barrels. It is bottled at 46% vol., strictly without the addition of colorants and without being cold filtered.
Nose
First thing to strike me is the saltyness, not shoreline briney but more pure seawater. A little in the distance there's a stable. White table wine. Some wood and faint chocolate confectionary. Very vague peat.
Taste
Very bold, mineral and again salty.
Gentle spice, not hot but certainly warming.
Finish
Sweeter on the finish, but the salt lingers through.
Remarkably long.
