Nose: buttery, creamy nose. Very malty. Caramel sauce. Appears well matured. Honey sweet with quite some vanilla and fruits. Dried apricots as well as a freshly sliced, sweet pear. Very delicate, complex nose.
Taste: intense but creamy start. Malty, sweet again. Caramel, creme brulee. Before suddenly rich, powerful oak is kicking in. Quite some bitterness, lots of oak now. The smokiness I thought of in the nose is probably more of a rich, toasty aroma from the cask. Vanilla and caramel all over the place.
Finish: quite long malty finish actually with lots of bitter, slightly dry oakiness lingering on.
