CONVALMORE

A closed distillery that is beginning to attain a cult edge. Just another blending distillery while it was alive, bottlings of it are now starting to be more fully appreciated by whisky aficionados. The character was always slightly old style and waxy but with a lovely spicy/herbal dryness about it interwoven with crisp maltiness and good fruit character. There are multiple great examples from Caddenhead distilled in the 1960s and from the 1970s some of the official Diageo releases in the Rare Malts and Special Releases series are spectacular. Well worth trying if you can.
