BANFF

One of the old Aberdeenshire Highland malts, Banff was sadly closed in 1983. Thankfully a great number of bottlings of it have been released over the years by almost all the big independents. The best examples tend to be from the early - mid 1970s from G&M, Cadenhead and Douglas Laing. Other terrific examples can be found from the late 1960s as well - particularly the 1966s - great examples off which were bottled by Douglas Laing and Blackadder. Banff is a very classical old style highland distillate, it can be big, oily, waxy and quite spicy with distinctive mustardy notes. It's a beautiful whisky which is always pleasurable and emotional to taste
